#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Two walks today, morning and evening – and the morning felt rushed, but the evening was exciting, at sunset, a walk by the river with my younger daughter, and of course, the dogs, and at the trestle bridge we crossed for the view of the evening sky over the Charles, we saw the beavers! One looked up at us from below, swimming by, and its mate, a bit further down the river slapped the water with his tail. We quickly called my other daughter who soon ran and joined us, but by then the beaver were gone. We were all in the mood to stay out talking beavers as the sun went down, so I took them to the meadow across the trestle where I found, the other day, that beaver were felling the stand of young aspens that grow along the river side of the meadow. Aspens are one of their favorites. It's a little sad to see the beautiful trees' lives cut so short. But this is the cycle of life. And the beavers, we strongly suspect, are doing just their right part in keeping their habitat in balance. How lucky am I, tonight, with my girls and my dogs, the river and the beaver, the pink clouds tinting the sky.
