Before our walk, this morning, I heard a very tragic story. I was sorry to hear of the overdose death of a young man on the island the day before. He had grown up on the island since he was a boy. He was loved by so many people who tried – so many many people, every day, tried to help him stop using for a very long time. His death left a community in shock, and grief, mourning their helplessness against this disease. He was somebody's son. My heart went out to all who loved and tried to help him and believed they could. If love could have saved this young man, and all the generous helpings of it sent his way, then it would have and it couldn't. This is what I was thinking and feeling under the feathers of the white in the blue sky over the Sound in silence.
