Telling Truth & Beauty: Writing, Telling and Playing Back Personal Stories

A Workshop for The Berkshire Festival of Women Writers - FREE

Sunday, November 6, 3 - 5 p.m., Lean In with the BFWW, Shaker Dam Coffeehouse and Stanmeyer Gallery, 2 Main Street, West Stockbridge.

Our November Lean In will feature special guest Kelly DuMar, who will offer a lively workshop on taking the risk of sharing your stories and helping other women writers do the same.

Kelly’s workshop, “Telling Truth & Beauty: Writing, Telling and Playing Back Personal Stories,” will involve writing and improvisational acting, co-creating spontaneous art in an intimate setting with deep listening and creative response.

Jo Salas, in her description of Playback Theatre from Improvising Real Life, says effective artistic expression is not the exclusive province of the professional… and all of us are able to reach into ourselves to create a thing of beauty that can touch other hearts.

This workshop will give you wonderful tools to develop new writing and structures and the chance to express the wisdom, truth and beauty of your stories.

The Lean In sessions are free, with no advance registration needed. Hosted by Anastasia Stanmeyer, editor of Berkshire Magazine, and Jennifer Browdy. Come with some interesting stories from your life to share!

“Kelly had women dancing on their toes, inspiring each other with personal revelations put into action on the intimate stage of our sitting room. Kelly’s deft handling of tender material coaxed reluctant creators out of their seats and into dynamic compositions that had us laughing, crying and in awed silence. Magic was afoot!” — PARTICIPANT, TELLING TRUTH & BEAUTY WORKSHOP, 2015
