Red Sky, Dawn

In a cherry haze of sky

the dogs and I, we trample

lifeless grass – earth is

mud-soft and slopping – to shiver

here, on this dull and dazzling border

between old season and new/

between river, shore and treetops

where, we're keeping

a weather eye open

red sky is warning

of tempest to the field
