#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

“With the passing years I stopped thinking of myself as a psychotherapist, because it became clear that I do not heal any psyches. Protagonists themselves do the healing. My task is to find and touch that autonomous healing center within, to assist and direct the protagonist to do the same. I am merely a guide in the wilderness, clearing away obstacles so protagonists can find their very own path.”
~ Zerka T. Moreno, Excerpt from “To Dream Again – A Memoir”
Eyes open, blue sky. Blue sky, Frank! I say from bed. A soaking in the night, and this cloud break. Hooray! I don’ t need to water. Early, my daughter and I drive with the dogs to my friend’s dock. I take a wonderful swim feeling energetic and fine. Then I walk home through the muggy woods. The butternut seedings are flourishing in the garden, I see. I must draft a new poem today for tomorrow and so I start. Then I have a meeting with new collaborator on a project, but I’m interrupted by an e-mail from Nina, my psychodrama trainer––I’ve forgotten our therapy session! So, I switch gears and make the session, and I’m so so glad I had a chance to do the work I did; one big fat wonderful insight from a brief psychodrama and role reversal.
Then, later in the afternoon, eeked out the poem, managed a rough draft, sent it off. Tonight, after dinner, my son returned home from his eight day shift, and I had plenty of leftover home-made pizza. One of my delicious batches that came out just right. Made before the terrific storm, a terrible fright. Worse for Charlie and Suzi, but not fun for me. Very close, very cracking loud and jumpy. It cleared. I walked the yard with my son and daughter and watched the sky turn yellowish and clear. Grass puddles. Happiness to sleep by.
