#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
The nature of psyche, which is a synonym for soul, is to find meaning and wholeness in life; and where is love? Love is in every expression of the soul, every poem, every insight, every action coming from the soul's awakening; the soul has a propensity for individuation; the soul gives joy to life; the soul follows the bright star of love; the soul lights the darkness surrounding us. ~ Excerpt from "On Poetics," by Stephen Morrissey in Artisinal
Clouds. The light is wonderful. Frank leaves to play tennis. I breakfast, briefly, at a cafe, and wander where my impulses take me, which is the river, of course, and then the Tuileries. I don’t sit today. I will meet Frank back at the flat to let him in after tennis. I have walked and walked and walked so many miles, as I love to do, in Paris. The traffic, this morning, however, is a bit wearying. As was the shouting, a man and woman, drunk and very loud, in the middle of the night. Frank said, “I slept great. It was so quiet.” And I was half awake for a long time wondering when this couple would find their way home to bed. Crossing the Quai D’Orsay, I approached the traffic light, it was green, my pedestrian cue. So many cars, bikes and motorcycles. And on some bit of metal or bump in the sidewalk I tripped, just as the green light switched off. I felt all the eyes of the traffic on me as I hit the pavement, hands and knees. Ouch! And jumped back up to my feet, and crossed in front of the traffic of eyes that, fortunately for me, waited for me to recover, wave and sprint across the intersection with my hands and knees mildly stinging. Close call! Inevitable, with all the walking I’m doing. It was an injury of my dignity, and not my body, so I quickly recovered. And the day was so productive in the flat. Frank went off to Roland Garros and I wrote and sent out poems, and ran my Ukrainian support group. This was a tough group because of the horrific news of the Russian attack on the dam that broke in Kherson, flooding and endangering so many, so much infrastructure. It was helpful, in some spiritual way, to be together. Frank came home happy from the tennis and we had a quiet dinner at a cafe. News from home: I am missed. A balance still exists for me here in the flat: romance and charm/noise all night!
