#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Woke early to be ready for the annual Admiral Funbelow Perimeter Swim at Farm Pond. First, a short walk with Charlie who doesn’t like seeing me take off on my bike for the pond. It was deliciously warm out. About fifty of us gathered on the beach, and even at 8:00 a.m. it was so hot I was eager to be in the water. My brother and nephew, the Dusty’s, arrived and soon enough we all dove in. I was careful to avoid other swimmers––no getting kicked in the head this year! I had a great swim, the water was lovely. Gosh, it’s a ritual of over two decades; so grateful to my brother for founding it. Seems like swimmers come from all over the area now to participate. I rode my bike home and was going to work on my poetry manuscript. But first one daughter and then the next stopped by my couch for a chat, and so I relaxed into the distraction. I went to the coffee shop with my youngest so she could rehearse her two scripts for the Play Lab Showcase I’m producing tomorrow night. So, I didn’t get the manuscript, but I did get my showcase prep done. Dinner with friends and the excitement of watching the American 19 year old, Coco Gauff, win the US Open! I loved my swim today in the open water under the September sky.
