The Hellebores, Early Bloom

I am sleeping so thickly, dreaming so deeply. Lively dreams. Brittany’s bark woke me up at 6:00 and I blindly went downstairs to let her out. Today on my walk I realized the hellebores that my friend gave me before moving were in full, wild, gorgeous bloom and I stopped to thank them. Took a long walk, and came back by way of the flooded brook, as usual. I feel as if, wading through the knee deep water, that I am one with the river which has spilled itself into these wetlands. I enjoyed my walk, and no swim, although i have decided tonight: swim tomorrow. Today, prepped for my reading at the Newton Free Library with Marcia Karp and Meia Geddes. I was pleased with my choices and my delivery. Read quite a few new poems from the manuscript. A nice, intimate crowd. Today, I felt it, truly: spring. When I reached the river, two birds were busy with the bird box, flying in and out. It was sunny, I walked into the sunshine on my face. When i sat down to work I opened the door beside me and let the fresh sweet spring air reach me and refresh me.
