Turtles Laying Eggs in Yards

Turtles that are looking to lay eggs frequently wander into yards, especially those near ponds, lakes, and rivers. These animals should not be disturbed, but can be observed from a distance.

Annual June Ritual Arrives: First snapping turtle mother from the river wanders into our meadow this morning to lay her eggs. If a raccoon or skunk or fox doesn't dig them up tonight after dark, they'll hatch in September and find their way to the Charles.
