All kinds of weather swept through this day. Rain and a walk that cleared. Frank had two helpers and burned today, and I shortened my walk with the dogs to help and we cleared fallen trees and tons of brush and it was physically exhausting and also fun to see the winter mess being cleaned up. After lunch break, I begged off, knowing I needed to save energy to present tonight at the Solidarity Poetry & Art celebration in Somerville. My contribution was to bring playback actors to play back the poems of the other poets and one of my own. It was an exquisite evening of moving poetry and gorgeous music, and I took a risk and brought something entirely unique and playful and emotionally riveting, thanks to the contribution of my playback friends from True Story Theater, including my daughter Franci. Driving home I was uplifted and exhausted, nourished and gratified, grateful for how well this part of the program went, and that I followed through on this creative risk. To sleep, to sleep, to sleep and wake for another walk in tomorrow’s weather, whatever it may be.
