#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
We are not going back to the Dark Ages. We are not going to let anybody in this country have that kind of power over any girl or woman. There are great powers, outside the government and in it, trying to legislate the return of darkness. We are not great powers. But we are the light. Nobody can put us out. May all of you shine very bright and steady, today and always.

By chance I chose my Vibrams to walk in; none of my sneakers are dry. And that was the perfect choice, as I slapped through puddles left from Ida’s reain and then, discovered, the brook had overflowed the trail again and I had to wade through calf-deep water with Charlie. Such fresh cool weather and sunshine. I stayed outside quite a bit today. A special someone in this household isn’t feeling well and needed quite a bit of carrying, being held, walking by the plants and trees and flowers and herbs under the blue sky and the white clouds to feel a bit better. Frank is still at the US Open; I had the pleasure of all three kids at home for dinner. Afterwards, we all walked to the river before dark talking pleasantly, slapping at mosquitos. Received updates on my ailing aunt––expect to see her tomorrow. Thoughts of her weaving in and out of my day and all the ways her life has influenced mine for the better.
