#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Nature’s Design
. . . this war isn’t war — but a certain and fiery passion
this love is forever — just as moments pass forever
we hit bottom to get stuck in some new heaven
there is a string that binds us all together
that string between us is a safety fuseExcerpt from “Make Love,” by YURII IZDRYK
Translated from the Ukrainian by Boris Dralyuk
A night of dozing, not of deep sleep. But the body itself absorbs rest. I am feeling so much better just because I’m taking a bit of over-the-counter medicine which I always resist taking. The house is quiet and I go out early. I will have the whole house to myself for the whole day! Everything is coming alive in the yard. Everything is coming alive in the woods. I have two deadlines on pieces of writing. I get through one of them today, send it off. It took a lot of energy: interview questions from the publisher of my recent art feature in Mud Season. Wonderful, thoughtful questions about my work and these photos and my poetry. I was glad to finish it and send it off. In the late afternoon celebrated by picking up sticks in the yard. Lots of sticks the winter weather left. It’s very cool but I am glad for the fresh air and exercise. We edge toward the end of April. April is a month I never want to end.
