#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

May River, Red Maples

Walks of two sorts today: morning and dinnertime. Rainy today; all the growing things. Such a busy start to the day. I take a walk with one on my back, but we have to cut it short to return home quickly to manage a moving of one of our storage containers. Then I need to finish prepping for my Charles River Writers; half the group is coming in person, half online. I print handouts and e-mail handouts and make coffee and set up food and Charlie has gotten wet and stinks and needs a clean-up. And flowers; I want something fresh for the table. I run out into the drizzle and cut some rhododendrons, purple and lilac buds, purple. Just right. The workshop/webinar inspires lively conversation, emotional writing. Just before dinner I have the chance to walk and talk to my friend who moved away and I hardly pay attention to being outdoors because we are engrossed in conversation on so many things. No time for a swim today. In the mid-afternoon I meet online with the Transformative Language Arts Network; I have rejoined the board after some years, in this new iteration. So grateful to be part of this new entree of members, to make these new friends, to have the chance to be part of the leadership of this dynamic, transformative organization––changing the world with words. Frank sleeps beside me, home safe. I have had many thoughts and feelings about the challenging news of the world, here in the US, the assault on women’s freedom; and very much so in Ukraine. Praying especially for those who continue to be trapped in the inhuman situation in Mariupol, most most especially the children. The children. May the children find comfort, hope, and rescue. May the perpetrators of horror be brought to justice.
