Charlie in the Atlantic Ocean digging for rocks
A day of half work/half play. And of exhaustion tonight. Went to a four-hour retreat for the Board of Transformative Language Arts Network in the afternoon. Frank got up at 4 am. to get to the car to the ferry that had a return trip scheduled for today that was canceled but there are no ferry reservations in the near future and so he had to get it off and leave it in Woods Hole, and he was successful, and returned. After the retreat we went with a picnic to Chappy for the last part of the sunshine. We needed to go to Oak Bluffs after that, to pick up my daughter at the ferry. Passed through a gorgeous sunset. Realized the fireworks over the harbor tonight! Massive crowd, and Frank lobbies very hard for us to go––I agree. And they were spectacular. Fun, cheerful busy crowd, the starry night sky and the theater over the harbor. Wroth it. But my daughter’s ferry arrived in Vineyard Haven, not Oak Bluffs, and she had to take the bus to us. The traffic out was overwhelming. And I’m beat. And grateful. And very much in need of a good night’s sleep.
