A day of fortification: Covid and flu vaccines this afternoon, and glad to have done it. And I am tired, and happily in bed tonight, but not from the shots. My grandson has happily exhausted me, this morning and tonight. Getting him off to school with his dipping egg and croissant. Tonight, shopping, and cooking for the family. He is the first at the table, hungry, and won’t start eating until all the late-comers join him. He wants all of us there, and almost all of us get there. Frank is away. So we have our ritual of checking in on each other’s day. He wanted the “delicious sauce” chicken, but I made, instead, the “crunchy” chicken and enjoyed it more than he expected. After dinner, lots of his favorite yoga-wrestling-dinosaur-jack-and-the-beanstock playing, and he had much more energy than I did, so I finally coaxed him into reading. Which made him very happy as well, and me too. Today, I swam and walked Charlie, of course. And had time to revise and submit some poems for the first time in months. I am pretty well spent tonight. Satisfied, and grateful for this full and varied day. And the winter solstice coming soon.
