#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

A full cold moon shining on Christmas night as we left the festive house of our dear friends after Christmas dinner. Plum pudding! Bread sauce! A very warm and wonderful meal. One that Frank and I did not cook. Despite all the change, our early Christmas on Saturday, I very much enjoyed this different kind of Christmas day. Sent out my Aim for Astonishing email first thing. And then a six mile walk. I walked through the woods to the railroad tracks with Charlie and we walked into town, and then to Pine Hill Cemetery to see my parents. I sat there for some thinking time. And then I walked home the same way and wrote a poem. Two poems drafted, in fact. Quiet house. Frank took two naps. And I made my way through the ankle deep water to see that the tent is on dry land, and is just fine. My son was at work and pleased to hear it. In fact, he and I talked on the phone this morning for his whole drive to Brookline, of 45 minutes, about the Christmas episode of The Bear that we re-watched for the fifth or sixth time last night. All new insights to share. It was warm on my walk, warmer than it has been, and there was still some ice, and it was one of the best walks I’ve walked in weeks.
