#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Charles River Sunset

A cheerful breakfast with my grandson, and he is off, and so am I, a long walk in the damp and muddy woods with Charlie, who came home quite tired. I didn’t swim today; I just felt like walking and being silent and that’s what I did. Two groups today, morning craft and early afternoon Israeli Therapist Support group. A late afternoon downpour, and I made roasted vegetables, salmon and rice for dinner and we all had a long talk. My grandson happy, cheerful, imaginative. Eating a bowl of ice cream after dinner wonders what it would be like to be very small, so small that he could shrink down into his bowl of ice cream and walk around in it. We race to the river for sun setting over the Charles and race back through the field and he gets his shoes into the quicksand of mud at the brook. A very sweet end of the day.

. . . As the lights darkened, as the lights of night brightened,
We would try to imagine them, try to find each other,
To construct peace, to make love, to reconcile
Waking with sleeping, ourselves with each other,
Ourselves with ourselves. We would try by any means
To reach the limits of ourselves, to reach beyond ourselves,
To let go the means, to wake. . .
