#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Autumn Web
A second morning in a row that I get the boy all to myself before taking him to school. It’s a two egg and bagel and cream cheese breakfast morning with one juice glass of apple and one juice glass of orange because he doesn’t like to decide between them. We even have time for fighting dinosaurs before school. Then I drive him, and go out into the yard to work on the brush clearing. Frank joins me between his meetings. The tennis court and wall continue to move toward completion. He’s gone for awhile and I keep working, and he returns with a new purchase I’ve asked for: a trailer. A flat trailer to put the brush on so it can be easily picked up and cleared. Perfect! I know he’s happy that I’m working on clearing the area around the court. So we’re both happy and the weather is quite pleasant. In the afternoon I dig into the manuscript and revise a few poems that need small changes. I get through three or four and feel good. It’s interesting to not be generating new poems right now, but just returning to those I wrote about a year ago. It’s a pickle night with friends and out to dinner after. The restaurant gives us seating upstairs and we’re alone up there, a large table, lots to catch up on, celebrating a friend’s birthday and telling stories of all of our recent adventures. Laughter. Friday night is such a great night for play and reverie. The mornings are dark later. The evenings are dark sooner. Soon we will be moving the hands of the clock into November.
