#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

I am heading down the hall to hear if Wave and his mom are awake for school when I realize, and stop myself. There is no school! Wave has a long vacation. But they are awake and I offer Wave breakfast. He’s not ready. So I head out the door for my walk on the track, a cold walk, after sending off my poem for workshop. I have a great walk even though it’s cold. I’m on the phone a good part of the time, and then I listen to the New Yorker Poetry podcast, Patricia Lockwood reading Elizabeth Bishop’s In the Waiting Room. Wonderful discussion and reading. Then I must rush home and get to workshop. I have revised a poem and I think it’s working well, and it is, in fact, according to my colleagues, working as well as I’d hoped. Then I rush to a client. Then I rush to a hair appointment. My friends have all texted about our powerful solstice/birthday ritual in the tent. It’s so resonant for all of us. Casual dinner and then I realize Frank is not playing tennis. We do the holiday cards together! Imagine that! We chat and stuff and address in front of the fire. Some strange land we are in. We have an evening to do the holiday cards. Amazing. Then Perri and Wave are back from an outing, joining us at the table. We are all doing our town things together and it’s a nice togetherness. Fighting dinosaurs has morphed. Now it’s kind of a hybrid of Minecraft and dinosaurs and things I don’t understand, but I play along. He’s happy. Me too.
