#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Afternoon at the river
I picked Wave up tonight and we drove by Kingsbury to see if the bubble is off the pool. Yes! We have waited through fall and winter and spring, and now we are so happy to have the pool uncovered! It was early evening, dusk, and he wanted to go outside with me. We had to race across the field to the river. He wanted to teach me how to run faster so I can beat him. He’s always putting me through my paces. Then I showed him my brush piles and we started working and it was dark and we kept working until 9. He doesn’t have school tomorrow. And he started to wonder about the coyotes. What time they come out. I told him no worries, they will hear our voices and know we’ve got sticks and steer clear of us. But soon after we headed in. Showered thoroughly to get any ticks off. I made him two eggs this morning and he asked for a third, but it was time to go. Lilia’s last day. I’ve loved seeing her cross the field to the river to go kayaking to see the turtles and the heron and the beaver. We will miss having her here. Today was a three-group day. All wonderful. I started my new grandmother writing workshop, which was excellent. Whew! I am tired tonight. The peeper peeps all night after dusk under the open window. Just like summer tonight.
