Late Afternoon Rain
No rain this morning, but wet. I worked on my Ancestry.com tree before going for my swim. Connected with a cousin! He has been researching our maternal family line too. We haven’t seen each other in years, but we were once close, born in the same hospital twenty days apart. We’ve made a plan to talk. Then I went for my mile swim at Kingsbury. No rain, but quite cool. I love swimming in the warm water under the open sky. It was delightful. Later, I did get to a poem I had started and didn’t think I’d finish. But I had left it, as a possibility on my desktop. And I surprised myself by suddenly finishing it. And I didn’t hate it. It was the kind of poem that, once drafted, I have to have a quick nap, and I did. Then woke to Wave being home. I walked out to the river and it was very lightly raining. I started doing some brush. Frank came out and we had a long chat while I cleaned up the branches. Then off to pickle with friends. I had promised Wave before we left that we’d play fighting dinosaurs when I got home. And he was at the top of the steps reminding me as soon as the front door opened and we came in. So, yeah. there was that joy before bed. And Frank has lost his ear buds––mine, the ones I traded to him. Who knows what he’s going to do this time.
