#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Hydrangea for hedge

Sooooo quiet here, in a nice way. I love summer I love summer I love summer. Woke early, worked on poem to get off for workshop. It was in better shape than I expected. Nice. Before workshop I went out, it was quite fresh and nice and I started weeding like a maniac. Stayed out til workshop. Skipped my swim. Had my shower and then realized from my view out the shower door what I wanted to do––clear the massive area of bramble on a ledge above a new garden I’m working on in front of the fence. This is an area in my side yard that I love. The privacy and lushness of this area. Sometimes you can hear the people passing on the trail in the Trustees woods, but nobody can see in. Anyway, I knew this project would be a challenging one. Went to workshop, then a quick lunch break. Drove to Medway to see if there were some plants on sale for a new hedge if I was able to clear the bramble mess. Yes! I got a cartfull of white hydrangea at an excellent price. In the hot, hot, humid afternoon I went out and I did clear the heck out of the ledge. Had to wear a long shirt and pants and socks and shoes in the heat so as not to get scraped to heck. I don’t want a bunch of scrapes and wounds for the weekend wedding I’m attending. Well, it was hot, but I did it. And I will put the shrubs in over the next few days as I have a busy schedule. And I realize now I need more. I will get five more if I can. Then I rested and had a quick dinner. The kids, Franci, Land, Will, asked if I wanted to play pickle outside at dinner time, and I did. The humidity hung over us, but we had so much fun. I needed to play, to joke, to laugh,, to relax. We all played well despite the heat. Ahhhh. Home to cool off in my outdoor shower overlooking my bramble-free ledge.
