#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Farm Pond Morning
Those bees. Bites still sting and itch. Crazy stuff. I woke at 6, stayed dozing until 7:00. Bright morning. Late August. Summer passing fast. I worked on my poem. I felt very good about working on my poem. I made good progress. Then I walked to Farm Pond. A relaxing walk, a loverly swim. The water has cooled. It was very pleasant, but the hotness of summer has passed in the water too. I walked home, taking the longer way. The Trustees seem to be working with the beaver as the path was muddy but not flooded. I looked for the turtlehead flowers that bloom perennially in August but didn’t find them yet. Today was a busy day with many happy activities. I came home from my swim and wrote about my brother, a presentation to make for his birthday party, shared with his granddaughter, at my nephew’s home. I wrapped a present for my brother and one for my grand niece and the party was in the sunny yard. I got to see and enjoy my nieces and nephews. I got to give my talk to my brother and came close to making myself cry. I was so glad I was able to say what I wanted to say to celebrate him. I also got to see my cousin who gave a kidney to his sister a few months ago. He looks great and is biking again, many miles. I’m so proud of him. I had to run from the party to go to an open house at Wave’s new Montessori School which I LOVE. They have vegetables and flowers growing all around in numerous gardens. They have live chickens and bee boxes and picnic tables and climbing structures. He’s going to be very happy there. He isn’t sure yet, as changing schools can be nerve wracking. But it’s just the kind of perfect place I know he’ll be happy. Then I had to dash home to read poems in a virtual event sponsored by the Transformative Language Arts Network, and that went really well. Whoosh! Busy day and I loved it, start to finish. I will wake early to tweak my poem for workshop tomorrow.
