#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
A very very early wake up. Amazingly, we are out the door on time to make it to the airport, traveling with a 4 year old. Easy peasy. A flight across the country. Arrival at LAX and by noon at Disneyland! It’s hot and sunny, of course. We are cheerful and energetic at the start. The one place we hoped to cool off, the splash pad, was closed. And the Mickey parade we waited for seemed to have been canceled, possibly for the heat in the middle of afternoon. But there were very fun rides and lots of enchantment. We met and had pictures with Donald Duck and the Disney princesses, Cinderella, Mulan and Ariel. Mulan was Wave’s favorite. My favorite moment was seeing a real, live hummingbird buzzing in some real flowers. And Wave beside me in the Small World ride saying, why do they call it a small world? It’s a big world! Our nerves frayed a bit at the end of the visit, of course, thirsty, hot, tired and without a charged cell phone among us. But the car we’d ordered came for us, whisked us to the hotel where Frank met us with a smile and a hug. This is a combined business and pleasure trip. Pleasure for me and Wave. Work for Perri and Frank. Tonight we had a relaxed dinner by the pool, another favorite time of day for me. Wave and I swam for an hour in the infinity pool into dusk. Lots of laughter and games. Tomorrow, he and I get the whole day for more of that. And on the plane I finished writing The Granddaughter’s Red Pail for Franci and sent it off. All from memory. She received it with gratitude and excitement and asked if we could perform it for Wave’s birthday. Of course. We will all sleep hard and deep I think, tonight.
