#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Autumn Swim Digital Collage
I swam today in the pond. After working for a bit at my computer. Ran through the woods. Swam to the island in the sun. The water was pleasantly cool. Then ran home. It’s hard to run and take photos at the same time. So I took none. Two clients today, and working on poems. Worked on three poems. Progress. Tonight went to an online workshop with the poet Ellen Bass which was exceptional. Took notes for the third poem which is not yet formed. Made this collage. I am liking the process of assembling digital collage—the spontaneity. The starting with one element I like and having no idea where it will go. Then just guessing what’s next. Then the feeling of being lost and wrong. Then the guess of what’s next if the thing doesn’t just get trashed. Then the feeling of hope it might be something if I don’t trash it. The next guess. Turning one element in another direction. Re-positioning, just guesses. Then feeling lost again. Then a sudden impulse for an overlay of the entire thing. Liking it. Thinking it might be done. And then, another element. A human element. Movement. A body. A body swimming. My morning swim. This morning. A feeling of autumn. It’s not the picture I couldn’t take. It’s the picture I felt.
