I slept in til 7:30 and the sun was shining. And I was shining too when the young man of the house ran into my bathroom and then jumped into my already made bed and climbed in as he always does on a Saturday morning. And how happy he was. We were being silent. I pantomimed: did he want me to make him an egg, or pancakes? But he read my gestures as making cookies. Let’s make cookies he shouted. I have the day to do whatever I want! And it was a pretty good idea since all I wanted was some really good time with him. So, we made chocolate chip cookies and played. He wanted the story of Mikey and Squirt from the beginning. So we did that. And as it turns out, Mikey and Squirt were found as babies in the woods by a fox family. Mrs. Fox took them into her den. So the rest of the morning I played Mrs. Fox and he showed me his toys in the den and his toys in the basement and his bedroom and then in the yard he got me on the back of his toy ATV, where there is just enough room and just enough power for two people to take us on a fairly wild ride around the property. It was a blast. And then I was pretty much out of energy. He had a friend come over and I went off for a gorgeous swim in Farm Pond and then treated myself to a few perennials to put in my garden. Tonight we were supposed to go to a restaurant with Perri and Wave, but needed to change plans. The food was take out and we managed a little bit of the dinner at the dining room table. I had fun playing with this collage. As always, almost gave up. Then it put itself together. No writing today. But tomorrow, for sure.
