Somehow they migrated to my bed. They didn’t sleep well. We all overslept the alarm, no harm done. Second day of school, a good departure. And I get a long walk in bright sunshine to the river, to the meadow. Over the trestle. Signs of fall, but it’s nice and warm. Leaves turning. The meadow mowed and all the Queen Ann’s lace is flattened. Lily pads in flower in the wetlands. No clouds today. I work on the challenging poem, a new draft, a better draft, I think. In the afternoon, a good swim at Farm Pond and my dear friend meets me at the water’s edge where we sit and catch up. There is a lovely current blowing across the pond. Tonight, Wave and I in the pool. Yes, after dinner he coaxes me back to water. We play and bot of us have good fun and laughs. And the almost full moon rises over the trees and we can see the white globe over the trees in the dark blue sky. I give him second dinner. And popcorn. It still feels like summer and he doesn’t have school again until Monday.
