Day ending warm with a light rain. The snow mostly gone. Chippy out for a final short walk. Despite wind and some sprinkling, we played pickle outdoors with Franci and Will and friends. I had dinner all prepared, so when we finished playing it was easy to sit down. So relaxing and cheerful by the fire with the candles. Frank and I walked to the river near dusk and there was a current. Tomorrow, Spring Equinox! Chippy had me up at 4:30 a.m. I’m hopeful Frank will take the early call tomorrow. He’s such a good boy. House trained and sweet. Wave gone early this morning for the weekend. Of course the house not the same without him. I worked all day on the new poem, probably the final poem for my manuscript. I reached a good draft. Then I worked on ordering the poems again. Yes, this poem brings a sense of completion, entirety. I might take some out, but I doubt I’ll put anything else new in. So hard to say goodbye to summer, and then fall and enter winter and nothing growing outdoors. And now it’s spring, and I will have bare feet and no coat and dirty hands and swims in the pond.
