#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Up at 5:00, packed my lunch for the train, and Frank drove me to the station for my early departure. What fun! A train ride! My friend Jenny Grassl was right in her seat as we’d planned, having boarded at South Station. We immediately began talking poetry manuscripts, and she helped me consider a couple of ideas. It was about six hours, and I saw a few other people I know on their way. Soon as we got off the train in Baltimore, in a sprinkle, we grabbed an Uber and went to our first AWP presentation, still with our luggage. It wasn’t as good as we’d hoped. Another Uber to check into the hotel, quickly, then I had to walk about 10 minutes to a reading I’d been invited to by Black Fork Review. Yes, in this funny poetry venue inside a hotel. I met some nice poets and read a few poems and made a lovely connection with the poetry editor. Then a walk back to my hotel. It was cool and wet. Well, there’s going to be a big surprise waiting for me at home on Monday. That’s all I’m going to say. Tomorrow is a full day of the conference and I have another reading in the evening.
