Chippie at the River

Kids, their moods. Dramatic shifts. Wave today as sweet as he could be. Yesterday, not so much. So much to appreciate today. Chippie spoiled our river time. He had already gone with Frank, early, and perhaps that was the challenge. We went home before I got to check out the beaver activity. I had another crisis moment of having to come up with a poem. I don’t like managing workshop like this. But I don’t like waste. So I found something and revised it and brought it, and it was worthwhile after all and I was glad I didn’t skip. I want some uninterrupted writing time and I know it will come and I can be patient. Next week I have off from both workshops I take for me and then I may get caught up. In addition to workshop, I led my Ukrainian support and that was very special, as always, across the miles. And swam, and helped a friend practice a poem she’s going to read at a wedding, a blessing by John O’Donahue which is always a pleasure. Chippie to the river again, this time with more mutual pleasure. I made chicken soup for Wave. His mother asked me to this morning. I didn’t think I had time, but just like the poem, I found the time. And we all sat at the table. I was eating my leftover salmon, and Wave looked at my plate and wanted salmon too. I had plenty to share. He gobbled his soup and his salmon and told me it was the best soup ever. That’s all that matters. He liked the soup. He asked each of us to tell about our day, the best and the worst. His worst getting a ball thrown at him on the playground. Mine was being bitten by Chippie. It was such a lovely meal. And then it was a lovely workshop tonight with the Tuesday night writers. So, I’m grateful for it all.
