#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Waking in a favorite place. Back to Katama in Edgartown. Frank has left early for his meeting and I wake early so I can walk in my favorite places. It’s muggy and overcast and at 7:00 a.m. I am one of the few people out early. I walk the Farm Institute and into the vegetable garden and say hi to the goats and the fruits and the vegetables. It’s a lush and gorgeous place. Then I walk to the beach and over the sand near the surf which is calm but I don’t feel like swimming this morning. I am out for a couple of hours enjoying myself, but I want to get back to the quiet house while Frank’s playing tennis. I must get my newsletter with all of my fall offerings out. It MUST go today and it’s taking me a long time to finish it, but I do. Frank and I, when he gets home, are undaunted by clouds. We trust the sun will appear and so we take the ferry in the Bronco to Chappie, let the air out of the tires and drive to our favorite remote spot in the sand by the sea. Only two other cars out there! Feels very private. We eat our lunch under the clouds and then we both take naps. We wake to raindrops on our faces and leap up. But the rain doesn’t last at all and very soon the sun comes out! So we swim and read and I walk and swim again. Perfect afternoon. Nice being just the two of us. Tomorrow, Wave comes and our daughters and Will. Tonight he watches tennis and I work on my new poem for workshop tomorrow. And then we will have family fun.
