#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Turtle Flower by the Brook

Woke early and Frank offered to make my coffee. We got to talking and he was a little late for his meeting, but he was being a very good listener and I appreciated that. I got to go to the bus stop with Wave and Perri, and we were the first ones there. It was cool and damp and I was summery dressed. Temperature changing. What Wave asked if we wanted to skip or hop. I chose to skip. But I was in flip flops and didn’t get very far. He was so cheerful and hurried his mom along. He didn’t want to be late. And I realized this morning how much he likes school! I felt so happy to see him eager to get to the bus stop. Of course that’s what we want for kids. And yes he was a bit anxious this summer, of course. Because he couldn’t see what it would be like, And now he has seen it and it’s his new world and he likes it. I like the time Perri and I get walking back from the bus stop, before our busy days start, just to chat. The challenge is not getting him to the bus, it’s getting him from the bus. He’s tired after school and wants what he wants. I love seeing how Perri takes care of him when he’s tired, and I know he appreciates her support. It’s a growing edge. It’s a long day. My youngest, Franci, had half-day kindergarten because we fought against full day. And Franci was a kid who really needed half day. So, I took a long walk and meadowed myself. Got my feet wet in meadow grass. Two meadows. I needed to be with the dying grass and the fading wildflowers and weeds. And on the way home on the wooded trail I saw there was water again in the brook. And then this sweet flower I’ve been looking for since late August caught my eye: the turtle bloom that grows wild in the shady woods. This really cheered me. So I spent some time with it. I met with my Ukrainian group and was glad I did. We had good talks. Frank and I ran some errands and this time he talked and I listened and supported him. Tonight I ran my free photo-inspired webinar and was glad of that richness too.
