Charles River Afternoon

A quiet morning house and a later than usual wake-up. I only have one appointment today. This gives me time to work on the brush clearing. Frank is so happy and enthusiastic and eagerly helps me with his tractor, now that he sees my vision and how it’s improving views from the tennis court. Being outside this time of year feels moist and gorgeous. Leaves coloring the trees. I have just re-listened to Room with A View by E.M. Forster and really enjoyed this relaxing listening. After the news. Which isn’t relaxing at all. It’s an emotional counter-measure to listen to a beautifully read English novel in the sunshine and cool air amidst hardwoods and pines on an October day. I do have some time for revising poems. I have less energy for it today than I’d like. Tomorrow will be a day trip with my youngest to try on wedding dresses. An adventure. Wave is home. He looks so handsome. He comes into the yard for a bit and cheers his mother on while we hit the pickle ball back and forth. Tonight, pickled and dinner with the engaged couple. Plans coming together, and we have many good things to talk about at dinner. All the trees will be bare soon.
