#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Wedding dress designer, Nadia Manjarrez, in her NYC studio
Up at 4:00. Starry sky on my drive to Franci’s place to pick her up for our very early quick flight to New York City to see wedding dresses. This trip was postponed from two weeks ago, the storm. And we have an amazingly special day, me and Franci. We arrive in the city in plenty to time to do a bit of window shopping before our appointment. Franci has done some research, and loves the wedding designs of a Mexican designer who has a shop in New York City, Nadia Manjarrez. So, we have a quick stop at The Plaza, spontaneously, for a lunch. We have no reservation, and eat at the bar. It’s an amazingly delicious salad. While there, we make a video for Wave who loves the Eloise books. We stage some scenes of Eloise making mischief and Nanny trying to keep an eye on her. We grab a cute t-shirt in the gift shop before walking back to the designer. We’re ready for our appointment! Nadia sees us, nine months pregnant, with her assistant. This is NOT Franci’s dress above. But she did say yes to her dress! Tried on three, liked them all, and picked her favorite, the third dress. It was pretty stunning and lovely to see her so happy. Nadia couldn’t have been lovelier. Franci’s future sister-in-law, who lives in Brooklyn joined us. Sweetest time. Such a perfect day. Back to the airport, home in a jiffy. Frank has made a lovely dinner. We show Wave the movie and he’s delighted. Frank gives me an early birthday present. Something I asked for. He gets me. It’s a battery powered mini chain saw. Yes, it really is. And he’s going to show me how to use it tomorrow to trim dead branches from trees for my birthday.
