#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Charles River Morning

A hard wake-up. I want to work on a poem for workshop, but there are many distractions and I can’t get it done. This is very rare for me. But it was a hectic weekend, a happy one, and many demands. It’s cooler now. Shoes and jackets. My daughter is doing an amazing job organizing the wedding details and following through. We have so many questions to pursue each day. My younger brother calls me to say a belated happy birthday and we get to have a very long talk about what’s going on in his life. So nice to connect with him. I get outside for a bit of. brush work. That’s today’s exercise. And lots of chatting on phone with my daughter. And the foliage is fading on the river. The river is bright and there’s a little current. We talk about dogs over the weekend. All theoretical. Wave gets out the door happy and on time and has had a double breakfast. I get to have a lovely chat with my friend from San Francisco while I’m making lasagne for dinner. It’s a nice meal with Wave and my daughter. He’s full of happiness and tells us about school lunch and how he gives everyone at the table compliments. Nobody seems to acknowledge them, but we encourage him to keep going. They will learn how to understand compliments and to say thank you. He plays pumpkin roll with his mother after dinner while Frank and I drive over to a friend’s house to wish her a happy birthday. Frank needs to dig a ditch tomorrow. He has rented a ditch digger so that he can get the electricity out to his tennis court. I love how he makes things happen. Poetry workshop tonight and I bring a poem. Still working on my prep for tomorrow’s workshop. Fingers crossed.
