Christmas Tree Shopping

And the cold continues. And so does the ice. So Wave and I go out. We go to the river. We go to the boat launch and the grassy spot that goes to the river is frozen. Thin, glassy ice. Perfect for boot skating. And hockey playing. With sticks from the trees. And a small stick for a puck. It’s really chilly on the ice, but Wave is so happy. Then we wander more and Wave spots the tent that is back up. We go in and Frank and Land have started to put the furnishings back in, but it’s a great place to play fighting dinosaurs. Until Frank and Land come back with the wood burning stove to install. Land doesn’t want us playing fighting dinosaurs in the tent. So that’s that. We go back to the house to warm up. In the afternoon I dig into a revision of a poem that feels like it needs some work. And I get it done. It’s a good poem. And I’m happy with the revision. Today I’m feeling good about the manuscript. I make a nice dinner and after we go to get the Christmas trees––one for us, one for Franci and Will. Franci chooses, as always. A fat one. It perfectly fits. Christmas is in the house.
