#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

River current

My daughter tucks Wave in bed beside me. Frank has left early. She is going down to do her yoga and doesn’t want him to wake and wonder where she is. When he does wake we have to wrestle. And that’s just about as good a wake-up as any grandmother could want. Laughter and fun before breakfast. Then I go out and can’t help it. I work on the brush piles. I have also worked on a poem before Wave woke up and it’s going to take a big effort to have it for tomorrow. Yet, it’s Mother’s Day. And a rich one. A busy one. A happy one. The sun is on the brook which is huge from the rain and it’s gorgeous and cheerful. We go out on the kayaks with Wave & Perri & Lilia & a friend of my daughter’s and the blackbirds and goldfinches, the geese and the heron are happy too. A marvelous sun and Wave is so happy. I have looked forward all week to a poetry reading with friends I don’t want to miss at the Brookline Library. So I dash in and change and drive to Brookline. An exceptional event. So glad I went. Home to Frank making dinner and I help him. All of my kids and Wave and Lilia and our dear friends’ son too. We are all so happy and talkative. Except about Fudgy. We get serious. We have to move him. The neighbor’s husky got loose again today and Fudgy was saved in time. But it’s only a matter of time. We have a home for him. Everyone reluctantly agrees it’s the right thing to do. We shall see. None of us wants him to go. I came up after dinner for two hours on poem. It’s very very rough. I must wake early and work on it. I haven’t even had the chance to text back all the dear friends & family who have sent good wishes. The brush clearing really has to do with my manuscript. My ancestors cleared a lot of brush. It’s in my genes.
