#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Star of Bethlehem

Wild Geranium

And it was a new morning. Brighter than predicted. In terms of the clouds. I tried so hard to get a new poem going to start the day. Then, went out into the grove and the brush and listened the whole time to podcasts featuring the poem Li-Young Lee because he is fascinating to listen to––reading his poems and discussing poetry. I knew he would inspire me, and he has. His mind and his spirit are working on my unconscious. I tired myself, but my son called to arrange our Mothers day walk, so I said, yes, now, come. And I stopped breaking off dead branches, he was in the field, and we walked. And talked. And stopped in all the lovely places. We crossed the trestle bridge, walked through the meadow, passed the wildflowers. The heron lifted, a swan swam. We talked work and personal values and love of the river and forest. Star-of-Bethlehem and wild gardenia blooms. It was a lovely time. Home to help my daughter with clutter and organization and re-designing rooms and moving furniture. A full, full day. I was happy to help. Laundry laundry laundry. And it felt good to be working hard, waiting, also, for the poem to come. Frank and I made a lovely dinner and had just son and daughter for dinner and it was intimate and warm. We all miss the special one. But how much we got done! More time after dinner, and still, the poem hasn’t come.
