Home from such a lovely night in the city at a friend’s birthday party overlooking the Charles River in the Prudential Center. We arrived in a bit of a storm, but the sky cleared and the evening was full of friendship and joy. It was a superb May day, so summery. I love having Lilai here as our guest. I didn’t feel great when I woke. Overtired and irritable. Low energy. I did, however, fuss with the poem I’ve spent hours on this week. And then drafted a new one. Frank and I did an errand, and I planned to walk and do yard work and swim when we got home. The day outdoors was irrestistable. But when I picked up the rake and I realized I simply needed to go inside and rest. And with the doors wide open to a lovely breeze I rested until it was time to go to our party. And it was the best thing to do. Because by the time I was in Boston I felt back to normal and terrific. I’m very happy with today’s easy poem draft. I hope that good feeling lasts.
