#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Morning after rain
Rain last night. Brooks running. Wetlands filling. Another lovely May morning. How did May get here? I woke up early as Frank left the house, by 6:00 a.m. for his morning meeting. Worked on my new poem, a few edits. Because I had the poems ready for workshop, i decided to drive to Connecticut to visit my aunt in the hospital with pneumonia. It was good to see here. But I wish she felt better. I drove home in late afternoon, home to the sadness of hearing there had been an accident with Fudgy. Poor Fudgy! Our neighbors have a husky that got loose and ran to our house as she often does. My daughter Perri was in the yard to witness Fudgy getting roughed up quite a bit. Got his head caught under the fence trying to escape the husky, which was lucky. Saved his neck. So, Perri rescued Fudgy, the husky ran away. But Fudgy’s got a puncture wound and lost his tail feathers. He’s been in his coop ever since and Perri and Frank check on him regularly. We’ll see how he is tomorrow. My friend Lilia set off for a retreat at Kripalu. Frank’s home this week. The weather has been so much summer. Wet and breezy and warm. I am prioritizing poems over yard work right now. And happily, I had a poem accepted by a journal I admire today. A grandmother poem. A poem I’ve been sending out for months. It’s my second time in this journal with a grandmother poem. Yay!
