#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
On the Road to Point Reyes
Ruby Throated Hummingbird at Point Reyes Station
A day of pure happiness, start to finish. How could I be happier? Arrived safely last night, 10:30 p.m., Wave asleep in the cab didn’t wake to see where we are staying with my friend Liz in Marin County. I knew he’s wak to these spectacular views and be gobsmacked. And that’s what happened. When I woke at 6:00 a.m. he had been up with his mom since 4:00 a.m. He woke her up in great excitement. Couldn’t believe how wonderful the views are. I woke up to find them very happy. And to Liz and the dogs. Our best friend dogs. I see how much Perri & Wave have missed having a dog. They loved on these dogs all day. I didn’t know how this trip would go. Had no idea it would be this smooth and comfortable to travel with a four year old across country! My friend Liz will make a fabulous grandmother some day. She has been wonderful with Wave. He’s so comfortable with her. And fascinated by where we are staying. Liz took us up to Point Reyes National Park and we spent most of the day there. Running on the beach! We all took a cold plunge in the cold Pacific. The waves were daunting; we didn’t go into them. But we did get a good cooling off. We did all the things in Point Reyes Station: coffee, lunch, bookstore. I’m getting used to sharing Liz. My daughter and Liz talk as much as Liz and I do. Wave was an angel. Very relaxed with three grown women and two dogs and our view of San Francisco Bay. It was a great idea to come. Wave is counting the days that we get to be here, treasuring every hour. In the late afternoon he spent a couple of hours pretending to be a dog, hanging out with the dogs. A very cute dog indeed.
