#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

A morning I walk up and just new: it will be a walk today, not a swim. A long walk in the woods. And so it was. But first, Wave up, his mother up, he is leaving early and they are packing a few of his transformers and he is asking for snacks and a piece, to go, of the angel food cake they made together last night. I show him the basement toy area all set up and organized. His finds many toys he has forgotten and he is enchanted by this reorganization. In the driveway he invites me to a race. He’s in shoes and I’m in bare feet, so that must be why I lose. I get my kiss and a goodbye shouted from the car window as he is driven away. Then I must walk. In the wetlands the cattails cheer me up. The beaver has overflowed now a different part of the trail. But I have worn my wet shoes and go on through. I’m interested to see how the Trustees are going to deal with this overflow onto their well maintained trail system. it’s a hot day that stays dry. The rabbits are eating the blossoms off my new hydrangea. I’m trying to be accepting about it. The bushes will survive to bloom another year. I have workshop and feedback on my poem. Then a client, and then errands and working on a new poem that’s kind of tiring me out. I am not prepared for workshop tomorrow. I will wake early when I have more energy and see what I can do. Frank is home and we have a quiet dinner, just the two of us at the table. Tomorrow I sense a swim coming on. My daughter, after dropping Wave, took her swim at Farm Pond and came home to report that she had swum to the island, stopped there, and hung out for quite a while with the bald eagle who was fishing there. She picked blueberries on the island and swam back and brought me home this delightful experience to appreciate. The wonder of bald eagles. How lucky we are to have them on the pond so we can look up and appreciate how majestic they are.
