#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Tiny tiny frog
Up early into the cool morning. Still overcast from the Canadian fires. Stayed that way all day. I went for a swim, a good one, and did not see the eagle this morning. The water was quite calm. I wished for a bit of sun to come through the haze. Oh, before that, I forgot. I had to retrieve my neighbor’s husky. I had planned to walk to the pond and back after watering my flowers, and so I tied my swim buoy around my waist and put my goggles and cap in my pocket and started walking through the woods. Stopped right away at the brook by seeing a guy on a bike with a husky. At least I thought it was his. But he had just stopped because the husky seemed to be lost. I told him it was my neighbor’s dog and then I tried to get Ren to come with me, but she wouldn’t. She kept running further and further away. The guy on the bike was nice and helpful. We managed to corner her on the railroad tracks after a bit of a chase, and I used my swim buoy as a leash and walked her home. So, then I decided to drive to the pond instead as this had taken a good amount of time. No writing today on my poems but I got a course proposal sent in and some art submitted to a journal. And my Israeli group. And a visit to my friend’s garden for tea. And then I took my nieces out to dinner which was really really special. Perri insisted, late this afternoon, that I come down right away to the deck. She had found a very tiny frog and she knew I would want to see it. The frog was sitting on the granite post by the deck, and truly, it was no more than an inch! The tiniest frog I’ve ever seen! Perri has been noticing nature intensely this week and sharing it with me and I’m appreciating her eye and her awe. I very much enjoyed meeting the little frogling. And I wondered why Mother Nature would make such a tiny little frog. I wonder what his role in the habitat is. Why is the little one here?
