My youngest daughter, Franci, is engaged to be married to Will! They called us Thursday night from Martha’s Vineyard after their engagement dinner to surprise us with the news. Will proposed to Franci on Moshup Beach in Aquinnah, on Martha’s Vineyard. She said yes! We’ve been so happy with this this news, and they officially announced their news on Instagram today with the lovely photos Will had taken from the special day. As they arrived tonight back from their long weekend on Martha’s Vineyard, we had his mother, father, sister and cousin here for dinner so we could celebrate. All my kids and Wave too. This is how I spent my day today, from wake-up till bedtime, getting a nice celebration dinner organized. First thing, woke up and went to supermarket to beat the crowd. I did get over to Farm Pond for a swim, that’s for sure. The weather is summer, summer, summer, and I am determined to swim when these summer days are here. Nobody but me there. Calm and sweet. Wave helped me back the cake: my mother’s applesauce cake, and I made it into a layer cake with buttercream frosting. It was a lovely sit down meal at the table with flowers I arranged an gold balloons. We love Will. He’s already a long-term part of the family. And we love his family and know them well, and we have an exciting year ahead planning their wedding. I’m so glad Will chose such a special place to propose to Franci. The clay cliffs, the windswept sand. I’m so grateful Wave was home and we were able to be all together to celebrate. No poem generated today, for good reason. I’ll wake early, if I can! and see what happens.
