#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Charles River Autumn
Up for alarm at 6:00 a.m. to write. Turned out that Wave and Perri had been up since 4:00 a.m. from bad dream. So my quiet time to write was compromised. Of course I didn’t mind and managed to play 20 minutes of fighting dinosaurs and serve pancake and dipping egg to Wave and still get a quick poem revision from yesterday’s poem and discovered a poem I’d forgotten/abandoned, a short one for the manuscript that I decided was in pretty good shape after all after a few tweaks. Not a powerhouse poem, but a small and good one. Then Wave went cheerfully off to school and I went for a long walk. Didn’t feel like getting wet. Still a little tired overall. Glad to be out in the bright sunshine and berries and scents of leaves starting to turn. Poetry workshop was great, I dug in and got some helpful ideas about yesterday’s poem to get it where it needs to be. The tennis court is now painted and looks just right. More to do, but I’m proud of Frank for this project and love seeing is satisfaction. It’s Tuesday, so swimming day for me and Wave. Picked him up from school and he was enthusiastic. Held my hand walking to and from the pool and I felt very loved. We played hard, wrestling and tumbling in the pool for a long time. Casual dinner. I had Tuesday night writers. Just splendid, a great cohort, some lovely sharing. Happy to have shared this prompt. Both Frank and I travel, separately this week. Him to an adventure with my son, me to a writing conference, Power of Words. I went same time, same place last year and what’s so memorable to me is how I managed to travel with acute back pain that wouldn’t quit. Lots of Tylenol and not much relief. Looking back, I’m surprised I went. But the good news is this year I have no pain so I will enjoy being there while feeling really good. But Frank and I are trying to get time with the engaged couple to plan a wedding as well. Hopefully, we can start tomorrow night.
