#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Heap of drying flowers
When my fresh flowers are past their joyful time, it’s time for compost. Before composting them in the leaf and brush pile, I like to put them next to my back step and watch them dry into a deeper beauty as I pass them, going in and out, in and out. My sunflowers and the flower arrangement that my high school reunion pals gave me for hosting. Still making me happy as they go. Busy day today, trying to get caught up, a meeting and then prepping for group tonight and groups tomorrow and the terrific gorgeous weather continues outside, so I had my long, long walk as well. I was invited to be considered as a poetry feature in March 2027 for an out of state poetry guild by a writer I know and feel honored, and I had to prepare a packet of poems and a bio so that took me a good chunk of time to make my selections. Made meatballs for Wave and his mom, they were much appreciated. Tomorrow I take him to the bus stop and also pick him up in the evening. My pleasure. Tonight he wanted to watch a movie with his mom and wanted me to buy it. I suggested he rent it, cheaper. Nope, he wanted to buy it. I said, well, do you have the money? Yes, he had the $20, a generous payment from the Tooth Fairy for his first tooth some weeks ago. Are you sure you want to spend all that he was asked. Yes, he was sure, he said, because he has plenty more teeth in his mouth.
