#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Last of the leaves, morning brook

Right to the highlight of my day, going tonight to Needham to see a presentation by my daughter Franci about the Expressive Arts Drama therapy work that she does with dementia clients, and also her colleague’s work with demential clients in art work. Wonderful evening. So proud of Franci, who made a movie to showcase her clients acting and singing in her groups. The movie was a beautifully constructed presentation ot the crreative output and engagement with senior citizens. I was tearful because I could see some of the origin of her passion with this population beginning with our visits, hers and mine, to my father when he had dementia and was in assisted living, and how he lit up so much when she was there to see him. Will picked me up and we drove there together. Nice to get the time with him, too. As I left the house to walk up the driveway and meet him, just before the fall of dusk, I met up with a beautiful deer buck in the yard. Bold and beautiful. He took a few jumps into the nearby pine grove and then he stood there inside the tree trunks watching ME as I walked up the driveway. His antlers were gorgeous. We so so rarely get a buck to come by. The hunters are out in nearby hunting grounds. Likely he crossed the river to safety where the hunters aren’t allowed. This morning I woke up with sweet Wave and got him dressed, fed, cheerfully off to his bus, on time. His best friend Gabe just made the bus too, and there were some tense moments of suspense wondering if he’d make it. I had a good long seven mile walk in sunshine and long talk with Frank and the golds and reds are muted and there was a lovely spontaneous shower of browned leaves over my head as I walked through the meadow. I got a lot done today without groups or appointments. Got the manuscript submitted twice and worked on board stuff. Tomorrow, I hope to write.
