#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Ooops. We didn’t get up until bus time. Oh no! Oh well, it’s okay, because Gabe misses the bus too and the mothers drive both boys to school and everyone is happy. I wish Wave a happy Halloween as I won’t see him until Monday, and I tell him, joking, to bring me his Skittles and Butterfingers and M&Ms. He agrees but I don’t think he’s listening. I took a long long walk through autumn woods, going further than I have, all on trails that run through the town, many new ones I’ve never walked and one trail leads to the cemetery in town where my parents have their ashes and a bench with their names and so I sit and chat with them for a bit in the bright morning. I realize I’m talking out loud, but that’s not strange in a cemetery. Then I walk again on new trails (for me) and end up at home and I’ve gone eight miles. I have, however, forgotten that my poetry pal and I changed our meeting time and I’m quite late for our meeting. We do get to exchange a poem. The happiest part of my day, well, there were two happiest parts, getter ting a pedicure and a long catch-up with my daughter Perri. I love talking to her about her doula practice and expertise, and then playing pickle with Franci and Will and Po and Geoff in the windy raw evening at dark under the lights. It was so lovely out tonight and we all played well and had fun. This morning another happy part was a long conversation with Frank. We both talked and talked and it was lovely to connect.
