Yes, the weather here today was perfect. Sun, surf, warm air, clear sky. How lucky I am to be here walking in sand. I had a shorter walk before poetry workshop because I was getting some prep done. Frank off to meetings early. I had a busy day but got some good time outdoors and a second much longer walk. Poetry workshop great, both my poems are very close to done. I sent a non-manuscript poem that I’ve recently revised off to a contest, first thing I’ve submitted in awhile, but it was ideal for this particular contest. After poetry I met with my Ukrainian group. Kiev is a very awful place to in winter. Unimaginable cruelty of bombardment and suffering and resilience and fortitude. Tonight, my Tuesday night writers, a deep experience. Great writing and personal sharing. I am homesick for my daughter and Wave and the familiarit of home. Almost three weeks gone, and that’s long enough. Yes, I know it’s snowing right now. My skis are on the back porch calling me back. The river in ice. Agh. I’m crazy to be homesick. No, I’m just filled up with the sun and surf that I’ve had. And I miss the people of home. I even miss Charlie very much even though he’s not there at the door. I feel as if he is home waiting to welcome us back.
