#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Beech leaf in snow

First, thing, yes, there is A LOT of snow! Wow! I can see it in broad daylight, all white, the field. I’m eager to get out on my skis. First, gather all the laundry; unpack. Easy-peasy. I have a light day today, one client. I must clean my car off a bit in the driveway, and salt the icy steps and front path. Then, to my skis. Well, the snow is so deep I must try and cut a trail. There’s no glide. Snowshoes would be best to cut the trail but mine are in bad shape, somewhere in the basement. I give up on the idea of cutting the trail. The snow is soft and deep. There is no crust on the top to ski across. So I head to the Trustees trail, trusting the trail will be open and used by walkers and skiers. I hope it won’t be icy or worn out. And it’s not! The brook is so snowed in it isn’t really bubbling. The trail is pretty decent and I go for a long ski. I’m home under the trees. The snow-covered trail is a decent ski. Once I cross the railroad tracks I meet up with a snow mobile trail as well which is actually better than the ski marks. Beech leaves have fallen from the trees and light the trail. I go along the river. There is so much quiet. No birds. Deer tracks everywhere. I have had a nice hello with my daughter, she likes the few treats I brought her. Later, I have to go to an appointment in Needham so I miss seeing Wave after his half day until I get back. He is playing with Papa, and happy to see me, and ready to play with me. We have some time to play transformers before my client. How he has grown. His language is so mature. He’s bigger, of course. His voice is loud and louder. His vocabulary bigger. Sweet and playful, happy to have us home. After my client we play again and then I make dinner: chicken marsala. I say we can have a casual dinner. Frank is playing tennis. He eats every bite. It’s so good to be home in the snow and the sun bright in the blue clear sky.
